What validation actually means

Validation is not about proving your idea is good. It is about finding out whether a specific group of people will pay a specific price for a specific outcome. Most first-time founders validate the wrong thing - they test whether people like the concept, not whether they will hand over money for it. Likes and enthusiasm are not revenue.

A lower-cost way to test

Before writing a line of code or producing any inventory, describe your offer in plain language and put it in front of 20 to 30 people who match your target customer profile. Not friends. Not family. People who have the problem you are solving and who currently spend money trying to solve it. Ask them what they currently use, what it costs them, and what would make them switch. Then offer to sell them your solution before it exists.
